 As many of you probably know, Universidade da Coruña´s International Summer School (www.iss.udc.es) offers a selection of more than 20 intensive three-week courses taught by international faculty in A Coruña from 1 to 19 August 2016. This year we also offer two additional sessions in Iasi, Romania, from 9 to 27 May, and in Vila do Conde, Portugal, from 11 to 29 July.

Summer school - Spain 01-03.07.2015.
The Marsafenet Training School "Law of the Sea and Development" will take place on 1, 2 & 3 July 2015 at the University of A Coruña (Spain) and is organized within the framework of MARSAFENET (which is the acronym for NETwork of experts on the legal aspects of MARitime SAFEty and security) Cost Action IS1105.
This training school aims at bringing together early stage researchers, senior researchers, and experts from public institutions and from the private sector, as well as other stakeholders dealing with the law of the sea and development. The main objective of the training school is to analyze and review new and emerging areas of the law of the sea and development and to provide trainees with theoretical knowledge and practical instruments. Each training session will consist of lectures in the morning and an analysis of specific case studies in the afternoon.

Summer schools in a.y. 2013/14:

1. Bratislava (Slovakia) Summer School  18-29 AUG. 2014 for master’s programme students:
1) student application form, if possible to be returned completed by each student by April 30th with motivation letter,
2) general information for students,
3) poster of the Bratislava Summer School 2014 for advertisement.

As a part of the nomination process the students should be asked to write a short motivation letter in English reflecting their good command of English and interest in the topic which is at the center of the summer school programme. Please send us the motivation letter as attachment to the student's application form.

2. Summer School  Portugal: 07-25 JUL 2014 and 04-22 AUG. 2014 

Nova School of Business and Economics is launching its first edition of Summer at Nova, a program in which undergraduate and graduate students deep dive in the theme of their choice for 3 weeks.

Taking into consideration the usual demand of Masters’ students when applying to Nova SBE, the school defined International Economics, International Finance and Global Marketing as the themes for 2014. The courses in each program resemble the Masters’ offer and allow you to earn 11 ECTS for applying in your home school program. A careers module will take place to get you acquainted with career paths in your area.

4. Summer School in Social Sciences

Central and Eastern Europe in Comparative Perspective:

Assessing Social and Political Change

Organized by the Office of International Affairs at The Ohio State University (OSU), the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology and the Graduate School for Social Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), and the University of Warsaw (UW)

Call for Applications to Participate in the Summer School

The Ohio State Summer School in Social Sciences in Warsaw, now in its fifth year, is an intensive training program offered at the Polish Academy of Sciences. This English-language course is designed to teach students how to employ quantitative methods in social sciences to get an in-depth understanding of social and political change in Central and Eastern Europe. Relying on the Polish Panel Survey 1988-2008 (POLPAN), students will learn how to apply basic concepts in statistics to substantive problems of the post-communist transformation in Poland using the Statistical Package STATA. Upon successful completion of the course, students will know:

- How to use STATA for data analysis; - How to describe variables (distribution shapes, central tendencies, range and dispersions of single variable); - How to assess relationships between variables (cross-tabulation, correlation, linear regression, comparisons of summary statistics across groups); - How to interpret research findings (samples and populations, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, understanding “statistical significance”).

Students will engage in four weeks of classroom instruction at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology PAN, 72 Nowy Swiat, starting June 5 and ending July 3, 2014. The number of participants enrolled in the Summer School is regulated to keep class size small, allowing for plenty of individual attention.

The OSU Summer School organizers are offering up to three grants for students of the University of Warsaw to participate in the training component of the program, without any costs to the student.

Eligibility

To be eligible, UW students must meet all of the following criteria:

(a) They should be enrolled in a UW undergraduate or MA program in the Social Sciences (sociology, political science, international studies, economics, or social psychology);

(b) They should have a decent command of English, written and spoken;

(c) They should have completed a course in research methodology for the social sciences (however, knowledge of statistics is not required). Warsawsummerschool.wordpress.com

To apply for the Ohio State Summer School in Social Sciences in Warsaw, interested students need to submit:

1. Personal Information Sheet containing a) Full Name, b) Major and Year of Study, c) Title of course in research methodology that they have taken and full name of professor who taught it, and d) contact information including email and phone number.

2. Essay Application, consisting of answers to the following two questions:

A. How will your participation in the Study Abroad Program in Poland contribute to the furthering of your academic achievements? (The answer should not exceed one page, single spaced);
B. What are your career plans following graduation from university? (The answer should not exceed half a page, single spaced).

Bridge Education Abroad Kosovo Summer Program

This summer, Bridge Education Abroad Institute (BEA), partnered with the Kosovo Center of Diplomacy, will hold its 2nd annual summer program on the campus of ISPE University College in Prishtina, Kosovo.  BEA will be welcoming  internationally distinguished professors  from some of the best universities in the USA and Europe.  Students will learn from professors and guest speakers on the topics of: Peaceful Conflict Resolution, public policy, international and security, diplomacy, Balkan identity and global leadership.

The Kosovo summer program is a premiere ten day summer institute for ambitious students and young professionals. We strive to challenge our students through a vigorous "real life" experience that features lecturers from some of the most prestigious universities in the word. Participants can look forward to team projects, simulations, press conferences and cultural excursions.

Outside of lectures students will have the opportunity to socialize with students from over 20 different countries, building your global network. It's all about who you know. All accepted students will be required to pay a deposit of 20% within three weeks of acceptance.
